This lake is located about 18 km south of Timmins off Pine Street South. It is just outside the city limits and has a great launching point for a canoe at the north end of the lake. The lake is about 4 km long with 35 cottages located along the western shore. At the south end of the lake, the Mountjoy River flows in. It can be canoed for about 4 km up to a rapids. Although there may be a few beaver dams, the route is fairly easy. In the fall, high bush cranberries line the shore in swampy areas. The forest on either side is mixed with black ash trees along the shore.
The area was an active log drive route up until the 1950s. At places where the river is constricted, roads were built for access to potential log jam sites. In a few places the remains of boom logs can be seen with the holes drilled in either end to form a long chain so that logs could be rafted together.
The route is part of the Mountjoy Canoe Route which begins at Lake Muskasenda and ends in Timmins.
