This trip is a one-day trip that begins on the Ivanhoe River north of Foleyet.

About two kilometres east of the Ivanhoe River bridge at Foleyet, there is an access road which goes north. Take this road for about 6 km. until you see a short road on the left side that leads to the river. The put-in point is a sandy area just below a set of rapids. The sand is a little spongy but it is easy to put in the canoe. Moose tracks are sometimes seen in the sand.

The route follows the Ivanhoe River as it crosses Pike Lake. This lake has an unusual shape with an esker running down the middle of it. Once through the lake, the river turns north for about a five kilometre run. At this point, the Shawmere River enters the Ivanhoe River. Turn and go up the Shawmere for about two kilometres until the rapids are found. The railway tracks cross the Shawmere just above the rapids. In the summer it is a pleasant place to lie in the rapids and cool off in the water.

The return trip follows the same route back to the put-in point.
