To find this interesting geological formation, travel about 39 km west of Timmins on Highway 101 until you reach the Little Star Lake Road. It is signed and is 3.5 km past the White Birch Inn that is located at the beginning of Star Lake Road.

This trip is also worth biking in to see. Park your vehicle near the highway and bike in the 3 km to the rocks.

Travel in 3 km until you come to a T in the road. If you keep going straight you will end up going around Little Star Lake. The left turn takes you to Opishing Lake. About 100 m up the Opishing Road from the T junction there is a turn off to the left. It is partly grown in and goes down a slight grade. Park your vehicle near the T junction and walk down this small road. The formation is about 300 metres down the road on the left hand side. The rocks are hard to spot but there is a small lake on the right side of the road very close to the rocks. Keep looking up to the left until you see them up high, through the trees. You will have to climb up through the bush to get there.

There is some controversy about the origin of these rocks but the consensus seems to be that they were pushed up from underlying layers of granite. They do not appear glaciated. The rocks are lying at unusual angles forming caves and places where you can see through to the other side. The tops are probably about 100 feet above the road level.

If you are biking, it is possible to cycle up to Little Star Lake from the turn off. The road will bring you out to the highway at the White Birch Inn.
