The Goose Lake Trail is found along the Springs Road which is located south of South Porcupine. As a result of logging operations in the area, the road is open to vehicles.
In the winter the road is often used by snowmobiles so it becomes packed for cross-country skiers also. The road is not long and there have been logging operations with a few dead-end road, but it is close to town and provides an opportunity for a walk or bike ride for residents and visitors.
The country is part of the vast sand plain that stretches for many kilometres south of Timmins. Just south of the Goose Lake turnoff are the sand claims which the Dome Mine used for years to back-fill their underground operations. They are on the right-hand side of the road if you travel a little bit further down the Springs Road.
