This network of trails is centered around Hersey Lake. To reach the trailhead, visitors can enter from the main road off Highway 655 (see Road Entrance to Park above) or from the parking lot at Highway 655 and Ross Street.
From the Tourist Information Centre in Schumacher, travel 1.2 km west to the first traffic lights. Turn right on highway 655 and travel north for one km. The parking is on the right side just past the Ross St. turnoff. Follow the signs at the northwest corner of the parking lot. To enter the park, travel another one km north on Highway 655 and turn right at the Hersey Lake sign.
The well developed trail system takes the visitor on a walk or bike ride through 25 km of interesting jack pine forest and bog ecosystems. A self-guided interpretive trail has been established around Tamarack Lake. The trails are well marked with major intersections given names such as Raven Roundabout and Chickadee Corners.
The main parking lot in the park is adjacent to the beach area of Hersey Lake. Washrooms and picnic shelter are located nearby. Activities include just stretching out on the beach, going for a swim or entering one of the several trails to explore the area. The beach area is well used in the summer time and walkers can be seen here at any time of the year. In the winter walkers on the trails are joined by cross-country skiers.
