Gillies Lake Promenade

This is a photo of Gillies Lake near the south end of the lake. It is probably the most successful example of promoting walking as a form of exercise in Timmins. It has become a regular event for many residents to go for a daily stroll around Gillies Lake, mainly in spring, summer and fall. Winter is not left out! Recently the city has begun to track the trail for winter walking also. Many people come and bring their children to feed the ducks in summer or to skate on the skating oval in winter. It is quite a site to see the Zamboni coming down to the lake to ice the surface of the oval in winter.

Access to Gillies Lake can be from almost any point around the lake but there is a parking lot off Park Road just north of highway 101 and also off highway 655 part way around the lake.

It is a great place for people to get some exercise, and meet their friends.
