Rotary Trail

This photo shows the beginning of the Rotary Trail in South Porcupine. To reach this trail follow highway 101 6.5 km east from the Information Centre in Schumacher. Take the turnoff to South Porcupine and look for the trail on the right side of the road. It can also be accessed from Schumacher at the east end of First Avenue. Take the paved foot path and follow it up the hill. At the top is a sign indicating it is the start of the Rotary Trail.

The trail connects Schumacher and South Porcupine using a route that passes through the Porcupine Ski Runners trail system and then through the bush parallel to Highway 101. Sometimes you will see people using the trail as you drive the highway as part of it runs along the base of the reclaimed mine waste hills. There are a few hills but the course is generally quite easy to bike or hike.

In South Porcupine the trailhead is found opposite Spruce Hill Lodge at the junction of Bruce Avenue and Gold Mine Road (formerly known as the back road). Look for a big sign announcing the Rotary Trail.

Most of the land over which the trial passes is Placer Dome property that is used with permission of the mine.
