This route combines three existing trail systems for a bike ride or walk around Timmins. As you will see from the above map the suggested starting point for the trip is on Pine Street just south of Ogden Ave. where the old railway bed has been converted into a great walking/biking/roller blading route. It is now paved all the way to the waterfront and what's more, it is all downhill to the water.

From the waterfront, travel north about two blocks to the Mattagami River Bridge. Don't cross the highway. Instead, cross the bridge and take the underpass route into Mattagami Park. Follow the trail in the park past the baseball diamond and come out on Park Avenue. Take a right turn on Craig Street for two blocks, and then follow Norman St. north. At the present time users of the trail have to follow the side of the highway until they come to the entrance to Cedar Meadows. It is worth a short diversion here to look at the animals at Cedar Meadows and perhaps stop for some refreshments.

North of Cedar Meadows on Norman Street, the trail goes into the bush and runs along side the river. Take this trail until you come to the Lafleur Bridge over the Mattagami. Take this bridge over to the east side of the river and follow Airport Road south for about two blocks, and then turn left on Lonergan Ave. Follow this street to Denise and turn right following it for about three blocks until you come to Denise Park on the left hand side of the road. Go across the park following a narrow path to the far side where you will cross College Street and enter the Scout Rock Trail.

The Scout Rock trail is about 3 km long and comes out just east of the Timmins District Hospital. Cross the street here and follow the Gillies Lake Trail to the south end of the lake. Exit on Park Road and follow it south to Ogden where you will turn right and return to where you began on Pine Street.
