High Falls is a series of rapids and water falls with a total drop of about 40 metres. It can be approached by walking, biking or cross country skiing in the winter along a 12 km trail that begins at Dalton Road just before the descent into the Grassy River Valley about 26 km from the Timmins Chamber of Commerce Information Centre. The trail is often used by ATVs in the summer and skidoos in the winter.
An alternate method of seeing High Falls is to drive down the Musgrove Road and approach the falls from the west side of the river. See map and more details in the Grassy River section of the Trail Map Index.
This river was the site of river runs in the early days of the timber industry. Logs were floated down from Peterlong Lake further upstream to the mills in Timmins.
