The Scout Rock Trail was the first trail of the Timmins routes to be integrated into a residential area. The trailhead joins with the Gillies Lake Promenade and Hersey Lake Trail at the corner of Highway 655 and Ross Avenue. In the winter, this trail is used by walkers and skiers. In the spring, summer and fall, bicyclists and walkers travel its pathways.

This trail is frequented by residents who live in the north end of the city, but it is also accessed by cyclists who often travel many kilometres over other trails to link up with it. The beauty of the trail is that it is located very close to residential areas, but very few homes are visible from the trail. The trail wanders through low-lying areas with marsh marigolds in the spring to higher spots that were once used for farming, and finally through a ravine opening onto College Street across from Denise Park. In the spring the cherry blossoms make for a beautiful display on the trail just east of the hospital.
